Quite an old pic - the niece in the picture is 22 years old now, as is the son part of whose head is just poking out behind my neck. Not sure what year though.
A little fire like that doesn't provide much physical warmth or much light, but it does provide a little light and some social warmth. More interesting to watch than the telly... ...and much less environmentally damaging, too.
So nice. It reminds me of the camp-fires during my scout days, we used to sit around the fire and sing a song.."Aag hui hai roshan aao baitho aag ke paas.."
That's just a normal evening in the village - a bit of a fire in a corner of the courtyard, or a corner of a room. Maybe in a chulha, maybe roasting a few peanuts or popping some corn.
