Twenty things you probably didn't want to know about me.
1) Concerned about the environment, and about justice for the world's poor.
2) Married to an Indian lady whom I met in India while working there.
3) Got a brother, a son, and a daughter all on deviantART ( *Wodewose =conskeptical and ~cocooned )
4) Mad engineer/mathematician by nature.
5) Currently technical author by trade, but with a very varied career history.
6) Have a penchant for wilful misunderstanding, sometimes mistaken for a tendency to pedantry.
7) Not bad at model making, and would love to have time to make models of various things, but always seem to have too much else needing doing.
8) Competent draughtsman, but can't produce two dimensional art (other than photographs).
9) Procrastinator in chief.
10) Master of wit and repartee - with a 24 hour delay.
11) Love travel. Bah, you knew that already.
12) Don't like pesticides, herbicides, or radioactive fission products in my food.
13) Don't especially like caterpillars in my cabbages either, but prefer them to pesticides.
14) Am not a vegetarian, but don't like to eat very much meat - believe it's neither good for me, nor good for the environment. From both points of view, a moderate meat consumption is probably a good thing.
15) Prefer countryside to cities, prefer mountains to flat country, but still find cities interesting sometimes and quite like the train ride down the Ganges valley, which is some of the flattest country you can imagine.
16) Love caving, but don't do it much any more.
17) Enjoy finishing DIY projects for the feeling of satisfaction and the usefulness of the results, but often find them irritating while in progress. Can't stop myself planning them; my brain seems to have a mind of its own.
18) Born in London in 1949.
19) Risk averse, but very conscious of the relative sizes of risks and mostly capable of ignoring the very small ones - even if they're things that other people are afraid of. Equally, refuse to ignore the bigger ones, even if they're things other people are blasé about.
20) Slightly overweight, but not enough to worry much about.
